#hcsmca Special Edition Wrap-up: Youth Health Navigation

Andrea Yip (@andie86) shares her summary of #hcsmca’s special edition chat about youth health navigation.

Thanks to everyone for joining @colleen_young and the @Youth4Health team on March 24th for an engaging and lively tweet chat around youth health navigation! We were thrilled to hear that there was budding interest from the #hcsmca community for this type of dialogue and were happy to have the opportunity to share our experiences, ideas, and learnings from the project with tweeps new to the project, good friends, and #y4h supporters.

Youth4Health Twitter Chat on March 24, 2011, 9PM ET!!!

Two weeks ago Andrea Yip (@andie86), social media coordinator at Youth4Health (@youth4health), asked me if the #hcsmca community would be interested in discussing youth and health navigation. Her request came at the same time @shebamuturi posted a link to a series in the Vancouver Sun about patient navigation in the Canada. Initial tweets have shown that there is a great interest in discussing youth and health navigation, so I asked Andrea to prepare this case study about the Youth4Health project to set the stage for our discussion March 24th.

CAMH Training Event: Navigate This!

In the past few weeks, the CAMH navigators worked diligently to come up with an amazing training event, which was facilitated this past Saturday, January 22 at U for Change in St. James Town. The event, Navigate This, utilized the identify, sensitize, connect model to present the mental health content they had explored over the past 8 weeks.

Below you’ll find a brief agenda of the content the youth chose to present to the nearly 40 young people in attendance on Saturday!

Identify: What is Mental Health?

More Navigation Tools in Waterloo: Peer Trainings

Last week I updated everyone on how the Waterloo health navigators have been using Photovoice as part of their work in learning about health navigation.

This week I want to highlight the peer trainings our Waterloo navigators (as well, as our navigators across different Y4H projects) are developing as a navigation tool. These peer trainings will be an opportunity for our navigators to share all the content they have learned and developed with others in their school community and beyond.
